VELVET TRIM LOUNGE ROBE SIZE XL-XXL WITH ORIGINAL SASH - BELT FROM 1940'S-50'S
Here's a wonderful vintage lounge robe with the original sash - belt which will fit a large person from my personal collection. Here are the robe's measurements when laid flat: 45" long from center-bottom of neck collar to bottom edge; 26" wide with the two front pockets showing with a 10" overlap of the lower section of the robe; 23" wide from each side hemmed area and 2 sash - belt loops area with max overlap of the lower section of the robe; 11" wide at shoulder - upper sleeve section hem; 8 1/2" wide at the sleeves; 7" wide at sleeve ends; 22" long sleeves from upper shoulder area to end of sleeve; 15 1/2" long sleeves from lower area to end of sleeve. NOTE: these are the robe's measurements when laid flat and it will fit a large person...please verify these measurements before purchase.
It has a nice ABSTRACTED embroidered vegetal design in relief throughout the entire fabric (see close-up photo). There's 2 front pockets each measuring 9 3/4" high and 8" wide which have the original steel snaps at the top center of each pocket. The ORIGINAL sash - belt measures 3" wide and 88" long which is made of the same embroidered fabric as the robe. The fabric has a carmen-red color which has an accent maroon-red velvet border on the entire front/neck edge (4" wide velvet border), sleeve edges (3" wide velvet border) and pocket edges (1 3/4" wide velvet border). There's no label or maker's mark but it looks similar to Roytex robes.
The center neck area has the original fabric 1 1/2" hanging strap to hang on a wall hook. There are three methods of fastening the front of the robe by crossing one side over the other; the interior of the upper chest area has original fabric 17" and 21" long straps which can be tied to the 1 1/2" belt loop on the opposite interior side; the upper chest area has the original fabric covered steel snaps on opposite sides which snap into each other; using the exterior sash - belt which is fed through the two belt loops on the sides of the robe (the most common way of wearing a robe). I estimate this vintage lounge robe to be from the 1940's-1950's.
This vintage lounge robe is in good condition for being about 70-80 years old. The abstract embroidered designs are in good shape and the red colors have good detail/brightness. It has lite wear from normal use. The back fabric area has two tiny pinholes at the upper-center area and a tiny pinhole at the lower-center area which isn't noticeable. The sash - belt has a small 3/16" x 3/16" wear spot on one side of the double-sided fabric which isn't noticeable. Please see photos for condition.
