Estate sale find, vintage original mileage chart souvenir folder for The Franciscan Hotel, located at Central Avenue and Sixth Street, northwest corner, Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.
The Franciscan Hotel, erected in 1923 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was a brilliantly designed Pueblo Revival building drawn by Trost & Trost. Not only did Trost consider it a milestone design, it became one of the most widely known and admired of the firm’s buildings, reaching the notoriety of his El Paso Alhambra Theater in widespread fame and admiration.
According to Trost historians Lloyd and June Engelbrecht, it was included in an exhibit at the Akademie der Kunste in Berlin in 1926. It was also featured in George Herold Edgell’s “American Architecture of Today” two years later. The building was tragically demolished in the 1970s
