    Description

WW1 German Stickpin (Sterling/Gold-filled/Garnet) In 1914 Iron Cross Box, Rare! Pre-owned in excellent antique condition. Box has light staining consistent with age. Both clasp and hinge functioning properly. Interior velvet lining in very good condition. Stickpin retains its original patina. Both garnet and stickpin are undamaged, without scratches, bends, or repairs. Back of stickpin is marked "SB". The early German box, with an interior label of "Andenken an Feindesland", is adorned with a paper iron cross label centered with a "W".
    The "W" represents
Kaiser Wilhelm, and the date 1914
at the bottom of the Iron Cross
    indicates the date the cross
    was re-instituted (5 August 1914 ). It
was first instituted in 1813, as a royal cypher of Friedrich Wilhelm, who reigned at the time.
